Beyond Copenhagen's Lakes


ASMALLWORLD.NET: For centuries, the man-made lakes along the Danish capital's west side prevented invaders from penetrating the city's centre. These days, however, the enormous basins seem to intimidate most travellers from leaving it. Ensconced in downtown hotels and seduced by central Copenhagen's throwback charms–Renaissance castles, the Tivoli Gardens, the Little Mermaid statue–foreign visitors rarely venture across the water into the hip and fast-developing neighbourhood beyond, Nørrebro.
